Addendum:
You said by now those who were paid should have come forward. You obviously do not know the ground rules amongst crooks. They never let each other down. After all they have been paid adequately and if they do take the courage, Tehelka would finish them off.

Not convincing at all. I do not compromise my principles because someone else in some other profession does. It is as simple as that.
Yes, all those that were implicated were punished but you miss the point. It is the means I am questioning, not the acts. Second, burearocracy that supports the vote bank secularists were not punished but actually promoted. Tehelka is quiet about this. Why? Obviously they have been bought up.

Dear Sudhir, You are obviously upset because it was your former comrades who were taken in in the earlier TEHELKA expose (after which TEHELKA , and its funders who are well known share-brokers, were thoroughly persecuted by the then Govt. and suffered for 4 years until they resurrected themselves and resumed publishing their remarkable magazine.) I have no reason to believe that any of what they discovered was not true. (In fact, I believe the Army punished some of the officers.) They used fairly crude methods to compromise the Military Officers, but then that is what people in the Arms Business do - as you well know. Just because they then turned out to be journalists, were not in fact arms dealers, and they published photographs of the compromised officers does not make them any the less effective - or patriotic. In comparison with the actions of virtue such as Mossad and the CIA, I would suggest they appear like saints.================So much for the earlier Arms Salesmen caper ==============The present caper was performed by an individual who passed as a research student from Delhi. He was funded basically for his 3 weeks in Gujarat (would have cost little, even with the completion bonus) where he tried to meet as many of the men responsible for the Holocaust there as possible. The original report on this is still available on the Tehelka site. I don't think you have read it. There were several times in this period when he was very foolish and could have been caught - and probably killed, like so many others. He finally cut short his "research" and got out of Gujarat when he was about to be exposed. You should also realise that TEHELKA has not been sued for Libel, nor has there been a single effort to disprove any of what they printed during all this time. Either their stuff is true, or the Gujarat holocaust operators are all dead by now. And at least one of them is very much alive and cooking. There is no reason whatsoever to believe that any of his informants were paid, as you allege. If that were the case, some of them would surely have come forward by now (7 years have passed) and made public allegations. If you read the transcripts you can see how his dialogue elicits statements (and sometimes fails when people don't want to compromise themselves or others). He did a marvellous job, and only a few of the conspirators escaped. You cannot be an honest observer and dismiss these tapes. They can be validated today (voice fingerprints can be used, and when tapes have been cut and spliced, these points can easily be found), and since TEHELKA has put them into the public domain, Mr Modi - or you, or anyone - can have detectives go through them and expose them if it is possible. I am sure they would be unable to invalidate them as a true record of conversations between TEHELKA's correspondent and the guilty persons. This technology has been known since Pres Nixon's time -- the person who unraveled the "deleted" parts of Nixon's tape was a colleague of mine from MIT.This time, your prejudices against "secular forces" cannot get you off the hot seat!!Sincerely,Jaswant Krishnayya===============

Sorry, Jaswant. I am not at all with you on this.I have read the report and heard not only these statements but also the entire tape of Tehelka that shot them into prominence. Has Tehelka told you who funded them for all this? Are you sure Tehelka did not pay the Gujaratis to say what they said or that the tapes are not doctored. I thought a person of your standing and purportedly 'secular' would not fall a pray to the likes of Tehelka's tape.Sorry, the methods used by Tehelka in the first tape has exposed them. You think they have suddenly become ethical. They have still not apologised to the ordinary Indian for the vast amounts spent by them, unethical methods employed by them and the use they made of pimps and prostitutes in the earlier episode.I have a lot of patience but I cannot stand hypocrisy and unethical behaviour.SudhirMaj. Dear Sudhir,
I AM surprised at your vehemence. If you had read the Tehelka report, you would have found that there was
1. No editorialising whatever.
2. Only the raw statements of the people being interviewed.
Your remarks do not bear on anything they have said in their article (which are all direct quotations from various people), but are reflective of your own feelings about other people.
I shall say no more.

Tehelka is a channel/medium, which has the highest integrity and ethics. It displayed these qualities by paying prostitutes to bare themselves in front youthful service officers to help votebank secularists? No names (but there are two in Pune), but industrialists who condemned Hindus in general and Gujariti ones in particular even got to buy oil for food from Saddam Hussain, although they were not in the oil trading at all!
These are the present-day Indian idols.
Secondly, Tehelka propagates the worst in human nature by attributing the traints to Hindus as the worst terrorists, parochial, narrow minded and implying that their religion teaches them to be like this. This is the 'high' level of Tehelka.
No, we are all not like that, only Hindus and more particularly Gujarati Hindus.

> TEHELKA has now put all these tapes into the public domain. I trust that at least one or two of the TV stations have the guts to broadcast some of this material. It really rips the mask off the peaceful Gujarati Hindus.... But we are all like that?
